Physicians
John L. Thayer, MD
Orthopaedic Surgery, Hip and Knee Reconstruction
Dr. Thayer is a Board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Although the majority of his patients have knee, hip and shoulder problems ranging from sports injuries to arthritis, he also enjoys general orthopaedics.
Dr. Thayer feels his role is to evaluate, diagnose, and educate his patients about their problem. He then helps the patient select the best treatment option and implements it with timely, high-quality care.
He was raised in Eastern Washington and graduated with honors from Washington State University and University of Washington School of Medicine. He did his orthopaedic residency at the UW, followed by knee fellowship training at the MemorialCare Joint Replacement Center in Long Beach, California before setting up this practice with Dr. Ratcliffe in 1983.
Dr. Thayer has three children and a wife of 25 years (whom he’s never won a tennis match against). He enjoys running, biking, home projects, and biographies.
Dr. Thayer has received a nomination as one of "Seattle's Top Doctors" for 2011.
